Oh my god! I was 100% sure, Germany would win against Italy! I was keep saying ‘I can’t believe it, This is impossible!’ last night. But yes, appearantly we lost. My hero German team lost against Italian team! There was no doubt for ‘Deutschland wird gewinnen!’ And also all german people around here was also in panic last night. Some were upset, some were crying. The short summer dream for football was finished. Normally this is not a usual thing in Korea for me, I had so much fun those times. South Korea joins Worldcup for every 4 years, and we had good score only one time in 2002. That was the first and the last time for us to win in worldcup. After that was always same, nothing gets better. But the memory at that time was great. All the Korean people were wearing a red shirts or something shows ‘Red Devils’ (Nick of Korean National Time), singing together outside, marching after the match and everything was in very cheerful mood. Because I was in 1st grade of middle school, (when I was very naive and just little girl!) I didn’t drink and go really crazy. But it is still in a good memory of my teenager time.
So, now, I am a grown-up. (So I can drink!) And now I have a good and strong team worth to support. Easy to imagine that I get so excited in every german match. I actually don’t know very many things about football – And I am ‘playing’ person, not ‘watching’ person. But hey, it has been SO MUCH FUN! And it was really shit that we lost last night. I watched with 1) other Korean students (with many detail and information provided – portugal match), other students in Hochschule (Holland match), Germans at the big platz (with crazy crowds), all international students (grilling and so much fun! – Greece match) and yesterday at the Pub with locals. All those were different, so I enjoyed all the times with great atmosphere.
The best one was the Greece match. The time I spent was just great, meeting new people and having nice meal and drinks! What else do we need? Ah, and there were 6 goals in one match! No time to get bored! Though this match was a bit tricky, considered the political/economic situation between Germany and Greece now. It was also a hot potato in all erasmus group. And only in this time, I couldn’t perfetly be on German team side. Somehow, I just want to prove there’s no perfect person or winner in everything. But German team played really great in this time. So made me feel so proud to be a supporter of them at this time. Dmitri gets really upset and pissed for the result,
well it’s quite true that german team is one of the best football team in the world. So ‘let’s not offensive for the result’ was the message that I wanted to tell him anyway. But after that night, some german media made fun of greece team and he was So pissed. And there were some discussions about the match: of course I was agian, just an observer. But that was interesting and somehow hard to understand it. In the picture, ‘Tschüs Griechen, Heute können wir euch nicht retten‘ means ‘Bye Greeks, today we can’t save(or more sense for’rescue’) you‘ This was a bit bad sentence to be on the official.
Anyway, I am basically don’t put any meaning into the sports. Because I prefer to play myself than watching the games. But it has been so much fun to watch all the games here! Probably I am not originally coming from this country and there are not Korean team. So I could be neutral (My perfect condition!) and judge, observe what people does. Some of the games went with a bit of political issues (like greece match), as I said, Sport is sport. So it supposed to be something just to enjoy. But well, apperantly I couldn’t do it either last night. I was very very upset with Italians yesterday; and I am not even German. But I was keep blaming loud shouting Italians on the street and saying ‘I hate them!’.
And It was a good eye candy. Watch match, seeing good-looking players are always girls issue during the match. Include Löw, german team coach, Gomez and Müller became on my list. Ah! and Özil also! He is turk-German; Oguzhan is so proud of him! and Plays really good, though he looks always a bit tired. I need to get a german uniform! witl Özil’s name on it!
I really wanted to see Germany-Spain match on this friday, and also really didn’t want Italy win. Balotelli was too good last night, and Buffon was very good as well. Italian team did well. But I am not gonna eat spagetti for a while..
